The Alec Bradley Tempus Cigar Offers Big and Delicious Flavor

The  Alec Bradley Tempus is possibly Alec Bradley’s finest creation to date. It is well-balanced, bold and has substance – a 94-rated masterpiece! The Alec Bradley Tempus cigars were released in May, 2008 by Alec Bradley (run by Alan Rubin). They are handmade in Honduras at the Fabrica de Tabacos Raices Cubanas. Alec Bradley Tempus cigars hold true to their “boutique” label, starting with the tobaccos used in their blend.  Its Habano-seed wrapper grown on the border of Nicaragua and Honduras captures the hearty and rich flavors of Honduras.  This leathery, dark wrapper encapsulates a complex blend of Cuban-seed long-fillers grown in Nicaragua and Honduras.

The main difference in the maduro line is that the Tempus Maduro blend features the same core blend as the regular Tempus line but its wrapper is a unique San Andres maduro.  The fermentation process of the wrapper is a process that uses the bethune made from tree pulp that is applied to the leaf during the fermentation process which results in a leaf that achieves its dark maduro color.  With a shorter fermentation time the wrapper leaf maintains foe of the strength that would normally be lost in the time required to ferment a maduro leaf. After a good “rest” you will now have a mature  and consistent cigar and will experience the highlights that the Alec Bradley Tempus Maduro offers starting off with an intriguing sweetness and subtle spice and maturing into notes of smoked oak, mocha and a cracked black pepper.

While it is perfectly acceptable to smoke a cigar you have just purchased, it is advisable to allow the Alec Bradley Tempus cigar to rest in your humidor from 6 months up to a year. Buy a couple to have now, age the rest, let those lovely flavors marry for a few months, then retest them a year from now and compare notes… you will thank us later. After a good “rest” you will now have a mature and consistent cigar and you will experience the highlights that the Alec Bradley Tempus offers with its deep notes of cocoa, a touch of white pepper and even a tinge of cedar.  This cigar gets meatier as you smoke it. Prepare to be blown away with delicious, big flavor!

Alec Bradley Tempus Terra Novo Cigar Review

by Zack the Stogie Man

As you have probably read in some of my previous reviews, I did an event a few months back, and the Alec Bradley Tempus Terra Novo was one of the cigars that was given to me to do a review on. So this cigar has been sitting in my humidor since early may and I was waiting for that perfect time to smoke it. So this past Saturday, I woke up, grabbed this cigar, and sat out back of my house before it got too brutally hot. It wound up hitting 106 degrees. So luckily I could enjoy this cigar while it was only in the low 90s.

The Alec Bradley Tempus Terra Novo cigar had a beautiful dark brown wrapper with only a couple medium sized veins. There wasn’t anything to be to worried about. The cap was perfectly flush and there were also absolutely no soft spots. The cigar had a great sweet tobacco smell to it as well.
Once I gave this stick a nice clean cut, I had to light up as soon as possible. There was a definite spice right off of the light, but it died down quickly. The Alec Bradley Tempus Terra Novo cigar had some great earthy notes early on as well. After about a half inch or so, there formed a slight bitterness on the palate. About an inch in the flavor got extremely sweet. There were definite notes of coffee and chocolate that started coming through.
Wrapper: Habano-seed Tobacco from the Nicaraguan and Honduran Border
Filler: Cuban-seed long fillers from Nicaragua and Honduras
Price: $7.00 – $8.00
Around the half way point of the Alec Bradley Tempus Terra Novo, the flavor profile got much more earthy. There was a strong sweet tobacco flavor that became very prominent, and the notes of wood, and spice became very strong. The sweet tones of coffee and chocolate were fluctuating in and out of the smoke giving it hints of sweetness every few puffs. This pattern followed through until the strong flavorful finish.
The ash wasn’t quite what I expected with this stick. It was strong and solid, but it was a little flakey and a little darker than I usually see. The burn was uneven at times but after a few minutes it would even itself out. The draw was extremely tight at first but it evened out quite a bit as the cigar progressed. The smoke was very thick and creamy and the aroma was nice with at little bit of spice lingering in it.
If you are looking for a great stick, you have better options. I will say that the Alec Bradley Tempus Terra Novo is the best Alec Bradley cigar that I have ever smoked, but it wasn’t anywhere near one of the best cigars I have ever had. I think this cigar deserves a solid 3.75 out of 5.0.
Enjoy your smoke,
Zack the Stogie Man
